What's 'Direct Conversion'?

DIGITEX Safire converts X-ray directly to electric signal by converting layer [a-Se], which is the shortest pass without using light conversion process.

Comparison in different imaging technologies

Conventional Image Intensifier or currently available indirect FPD technology is based on Scintillator technology, which converts X-ray to light first and converts again to video signals. There is certain data loss (mostly spatial resolution) process by light scatters.
Shimadzu Safire technology does not require light process pass, but directly converts to final image data, achieved world No.1 spatial resolution and superior image quality.
