Shimadzu SPME Arrows
The SPME Arrow is a new technology for micro-extraction, combining trace level sensitivity with high mechanical robustness. The SPME Arrow has a large sorption phase surface resulting in two times higher sample throughput. The arrow-shaped tip allows smooth penetration of vial and injector septa. In contrast to traditional SPME fibers, the Arrow design fully protects the sorptive material, minimizing adverse influences and loss of analytes during transfer processes.

Shimadzu SPME Fibers
SPME Fibers have been developed for fast and economical solvent-free analysis of samples. The fibers are offered with different coatings and film thicknesses. Their excellent extraction properties have been proven for many important applications.
Solid Phase Microextraction (SPME) is a solvent-free sample preparation technique. The fibers are either coated with a polymer, a sorbent or even both of them.
After the tip has punctured the septum of the vial the fiber is extended by pressing down the plunger. Once the sorbent is exposed, molecules of the analyte are sorbed. This results in a strong enrichment of the analyte relative to the sample. The fiber is then directly inserted into the injector for analysis.
