“The Effect of Different Injector Inserts on Pesticide Analysis: Compound Discrimination and Reproducibility”
Dr. Rebecca Kelting, Shimadzu Europa GmbH, Duisburg, Deutschland
Beside the simple classification of dividing into split and splitless injector inserts, there is a variety of liner geometries, fillings and deactivations available on the market the user has to choose of. Many applications, however, include compounds that show a behaviour strongly dependent on the properties of the liner or the filling material. Especially pesticides reveal drastic differences when injected into different inserts, caused by adsorption and degradation effects on the surface. In the study presented here different liners have been investigated with respect to compound discrimination using a pesticide mix. The liners showing best overall performance additionally were compared regarding reproducibility of the signals.

Food is always a hot topic discussion and in the focus of “state of the art” analytical techniques. Food scandals all around the world from eggs to horsemeat, tainted wine, oil, and milk forces the European community to establish an integrated approach on food control. The most suitable technique for quantitative analysis of heavy metals in food and food packaging is ICP-OES spectrometry. Experimental data of antimony in food and food packaging will be presented and analytical results generated on the new simultaneous ICPE-9820 will be discussed.

Product Lineup:
The Shimadzu GCMS-TQ8040 is the first triple quadrupole with Smart Productivity for high efficiency sample throughput, Smart Operation for quick and easy method development, and Smart Performance for low detection limits and Scan/MRM. These 3 smart technologies contribute to Smart MRM, and provide the most accurate, cost effective, and easy-to-use triple quadrupole GCMS you have ever imagined.
The compact UV-2600/2700 is a universal, researchgrade spectrophotometer that can be used in a wide range of fields, and easily expanded to suit the measurement objective.
The IRAffinity-1S is a compact Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer that is housed within an elegant form. The interferometer is continuously optimized by a dynamic alignment mechanism, and a built-in auto dryer helps ensure ease of maintenance.
Shimadzu produces a wide range of diffraction gratings like the unique LO-RAY-LIGH Gratings – The diffraction gratings that has world’s highest efficiency and world’s lowest stray light level.
