Description:
Supercritical Fluid Chromatography for Dummies is your guide to understanding SFC. Ideal for students, lab technicians, and chromatography enthusiasts, this book demystifies SFC and highlights its benefits. Discover how SFC, using supercritical CO2, offers faster, cleaner, and more efficient separations than traditional LC methods. Learn about SFC basics, method development, choosing detectors, and optimizing conditions. Troubleshoot with tips on reading chromatograms and pressure curves. SFC for Dummies dispels myths and shows why SFC is vital in modern analytical chemistry.
About the Authors:
Caroline West is a full professor at the University of Orleans in France, specializing in separation science and chemometrics. Her research focuses heavily on chromatographic selectivity, particularly in Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Caroline has published over 100 papers and delivered around 100 lectures at conferences, earning accolades like the “LC-GC Emerging Leader in Chromatography” award and a spot on “The Analytical Scientist” magazine’s “Top 40 under 40” and “The Power List”. Her work in academia and her significant contributions to the field of SFC have made her a respected authority in analytical chemistry.
Gesa Schad, on the other hand, brings her expertise from the industry side. She holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering, along with a doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK. Gesa joined Shimadzu Europa in Duisburg, Germany, as an HPLC Product Specialist in 2013, becoming Product Manager two years later. Her experience with an instrument manufacturer gives her a broad perspective on the practical applications and innovations in chromatographic method development and implementation, including SFC.
Together, Caroline and Gesa offer a wealth of experience and knowledge from both academic and industrial perspectives. They will guide you through the fascinating world of Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC), offering insights from both the instrument and application sides.
