Shimadzu launches new compact LCMS
With LCMS 2050 get the big picture in view
New product in the LCMS line from Shimadzu/Compact system with high-end results/Reliable, durable and easy to use
Shimadzu, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of analytical instruments, introduces the LCMS-2050, a new single quadrupole LCMS detector that not only impresses with its compact size, but also with its durability and ease of use. “Although compact, the design and capabilities of the new single-quadrupole LCMS will change the productivity of any analytical laboratory,” says Nils Garnebode, Senior Manager Marketing Europe, Shimadzu Europa.
Maximum performance in the smallest of spaces
Despite its small size, the LCMS-2050 has all the specifications of a high-end system. The device combines the excellent separation resolution of liquid chromatography (LC) with the qualitative possibilities of mass spectrometry (MS). Thanks to the LC detector, users can directly see what is hidden behind the samples. The MS detector also provides all specifications for complex analyses. This makes it possible to capture all compounds of a sample at once. Thus, the large mass range of the LCMS-2050 is ideal for determining the molecular weight of large molecules such as oligonucleotides, peptides, proteins, polymers and more.
New Heated Dual Ion Source (DUIS)
The LCMS-2050 is equipped with the newly developed Heated Dual Ion Source (DUIS) as standard. This hybrid source is a combination of electrospray ionization (ESI) and chemical ionization at atmospheric pressure (APCI). In this way, ions that ionize well by either APCI or ESI can be detected simultaneously. The result is high sensitivity to compounds in a wide range of chemical properties, including low-polar compounds.
By quickly switching the polarity, it is also possible to determine both positive and negative ions during the measurement with high sensitivity.
Complex data at a glance
With the help of Shimadzu’s MASS-IT function for displaying mass information, complex data can be collected at a glance. The function detects and superimposes the signature mass information on the LC-UV or LC-PDA chromatogram. With just one click, several components in a single UV peak become visible as well as “hidden” components without UV absorption.
Simple and efficient for many user areas
The focus of the development was simplicity in operation without compromising the analysis results. The compact device integrates with other Shimadzu LC units in the laboratory to save space and can be used for analysis in many areas, including pharmaceuticals, science, chemistry and food. The extensive equipment ensures that even users who are not familiar with mass spectrometers can record data easily and efficiently. With the LCMS-2050, Shimadzu has thus succeeded in providing laboratories with an intelligent and stable system that keeps pace with the technologies and requirements of the next ten years and thus contributes significantly to operational efficiency.
Web summary
Shimadzu, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of analytical instruments, introduces the LCMS-2050, a new single quadrupole LCMS detector that not only impresses with its compact size, but also with its durability and ease of use – without compromising on specification, such as sensitivity, flexibility or speed.
The LCMS-2050 combines powerful liquid chromatography (LC) with the qualitative possibilities of mass spectrometry (MS) and provides reliable analysis with high-end results with its extensive functions such as dual-ion source (HESI/APCI), high sensitivity and the MASS-IT function. This combination makes it possible to capture all compounds in a sample at once.
In developing the LCMS-2050, Shimadzu focused on providing an intelligent system that would keep pace with the technologies of the next decade.
