CLAM-2040
Shimadzu‘s technologies are used in the clinical environment both for daily routine analysis and for research and development of ultra-early diagnostics, diagnostics, medical treatments and prognostic phases. The axes of development are cancer, diseases related to lifestyle in order to be in better health for longer, as well as neurodegenerative diseases. With longstanding expertise in medical imaging as well as analytical instrumentation, Shimadzu is perfectly positioned to offer innovative and robust mass spectrometry-based solutions for therapeutic drug monitoring applications, toxicology studies, biomarker research and monitoring of new drugs based on monoclonal antibodies. Visit the Shimadzu booth at MSACL 2025 and chat with our experts to learn about all the solutions offered!
1. Automating a Comprehensive Amino Acid Panel for Inborn Errors of Metabolism, from Sample Preparation to Analysis.
Stephen Master, MD, PhD, FADLM
(Children's Hospital of Philadelphia)
Summary
Analysis of amino acids is a powerful tool for screening and monitoring inborn errors of metabolism (IEMs) alongside analysis of acylcarnitines, and organic acids. In this presentation the speakers discuss the development and implementation of an un-derivatized amino acid assay on an LC-MS/MS platform with an online and automated sample preparation module. The speakers will highlight aspects of the assay development journey from method development to validation.

2. Automated LCMS-Solution Ready for 24/7
Dr.rer.nat. Frank Streit
(Universitätsmedizin Göttingen)
Summary
Connecting the CLAM-2040 clinical laboratory automation module to an LC-MS/MS instrument allows fully automated measurements of hundreds of compounds using several multiparametric LC-MS/MS methods. An introduction to the online automated module will be given and attendees will get a better understanding of how this innovative technology enables routine 24/7 LC-MS/MS analysis. It allows specialists to set up new assays and implement them into routine clinical workflows in a very short time. Calibration, QC samples, and patient sample measurement can be performed with an intuitive user-friendly interface. Quality control is embedded into the software and can be used to quickly check QC results. Validation data for antibiotics, antiepileptics, antidepressants, antimycotics, and direct oral anti-coagulants will be presented. Measurement accuracy, long-term calibration stability, and robustness will be highlighted.
