Nowadays the quality standards for beer analysis are defined by the Central European Commission for Brewing Analysis (MEBAK) and the European Brewery Convention (EBC), representing technical and scientific interests of the brewing sector in the European countries. These regulations include the determination of numerous elements (such as Arsenic, Calcium, Copper, Sodium, Potassium, and more), anions (such as nitrate and sulfite) as well as organic components (ethanol, glycerine) and last not least pesticides and mycotoxins. In order to maintain the high level of quality, chemical investigations have to be performed, using different analytical techniques like spectroscopy, chromatography, mass- spectrometry to quantify all the potential contaminants.
