Shimadzu launches the new TOC-1000e S
Shimadzu expands eTOC series with TOC-1000e S for high-purity
water monitoring
New online TOC analyser supports stable production, reduces downtime and improves risk control in critical production environments
Shimadzu, a world leader in analytical instrumentation and testing equipment, has introduced the TOC-1000e S, a new high-sensitivity online TOC (Total Organic Carbon) analyser developed for the continuous monitoring of ultrapure and ultra-ultrapure water in semiconductor manufacturing and other high-purity production environments. The new system expands the company’s eTOC series and addresses increasing demand for reliable monitoring solutions in industries where water purity directly affects production quality and process stability.
Advanced water monitoring in demanding production industries
Ultrapure water is an essential process medium in sectors such as semiconductor fabrication. Even trace levels of organic contamination can influence yield, product quality and equipment performance. As semiconductor structures continue to shrink and manufacturing processes become more sensitive, monitoring requirements for ultrapure water systems are increasing accordingly. The TOC-1000e S has been developed specifically for these environments. Positioned as the high-sensitivity model within the eTOC platform, it complements the TOC-1000e, which is already used in pharmaceutical and industrial applications. With the new model, Shimadzu extends the eTOC series into chip manufacturing and other advanced high-purity applications.
Like the other members of the eTOC series, the TOC-1000e S is designed for continuous online monitoring rather than laboratory-based spot analysis. The system supports real-time process control and early identification of contamination events, helping operators reduce unplanned downtime and maintain stable production conditions. It incorporates Shimadzu’s excimer lamp oxidation technology and Active-Path flow design introduced with the original TOC-1000e platform. This approach minimizes sample residue within the flow channel and supports stable, high-sensitivity measurements over extended operating periods. In addition to sensitivity, the new analyser is designed to reduce maintenance effort and support operational continuity in demanding manufacturing environments. Long maintenance intervals, compact installation dimensions and integration into existing process infrastructures are intended to simplify operation in production facilities where uninterrupted uptime is critical.
Last but not least, the launch reflects broader developments across semiconductor and other high-purity industries. Manufacturers are increasingly moving from periodic sampling toward continuous monitoring strategies in order to improve process transparency, reduce operational risk and comply with stricter quality requirements.
Key features:
1.High-sensitivity TOC monitoring for high-purity water applications
2•Continuous online measurement supporting real-time process monitoring and early contamination detection
3.Specifically designed for semiconductor manufacturing environments with particularly stringent purity requirements
4.Long maintenance intervals helping to reduce service effort and operational interruptions
5.Compact design and flexible installation for integration into existing production infrastructure
6.Stable long-term operation through excimer lamp technology and Active-Path flow design
7.Support for process reliability and production continuity by minimizing the risk of undetected contamination events
8.Suitable for compliance-oriented environments requiring traceable and reliable water quality monitoring
According to Shimadzu, the eTOC series is intended to support production reliability by combining sensitive TOC detection with stable long-term operation. The company positions the systems not only as analytical instruments, but also as infrastructure components for production quality assurance and risk minimization in critical manufacturing environments.
The TOC-1000e S is suitable for semiconductor manufacturing, ultrapure as well as ultra-ultrapure water systems and other applications requiring highly sensitive online TOC analysis. In addition to semiconductor production, potential application areas include pharmaceuticals, hydrogen production and precision manufacturing.
About the eTOC Series
Shimadzu’s eTOC series consists of online TOC analysers for real-time monitoring of organic contaminants in pure, ultrapure and ultra-ultrapure water environments. The systems are designed for industrial processes requiring stable process and water quality control, regulatory compliance and high operational availability.
