3 experiments with the specialists in analytics

Shimadzu, one of the world's leading companies in instrumental analytics, is inviting schoolgirls from grade 5 upwards to a mega-exciting day in the "Shimadzu Laboratory World" for the second time on 28 April. Last year it was only possible online, but this year the doors of the European headquarters in Duisburg at Albert-Hahn-Str. 6-10 will be open. The schoolgirls are cordially invited to get a taste of what Shimadzu has to offer and to try their hand in an exciting technical environment. There will be three experiments in which the girls can get directly involved:

"Really sweet!"
How many cubes of sugar are in your soft drink?
You, us and a mass spectrometer will find out together.

#Experiment 2
"Great energy!"
How do I get the caffeine out of my cola?
We take a look together at how this is done and how a liquid chromatograph separates the two components from each other with molecular precision.

#Experiment 3
"Totally your taste!"
We take a few favourite drinks, filter out differences together and show you how a gas chromatograph with flame ionisation detector (GC-FID) makes it possible.

In the process, they learn a lot about themselves, a few things about Shimadzu as a leading manufacturer of laboratory and analysis systems - and get to know the enormous #girlpower at #Shimadzu. Our female specialists are happy to show how products are analysed using spectrometry, chromatography and state-of-the-art machines and explain their tasks as product specialist and market manager at Shimadzu.
Shimadzu is at home in the natural sciences. The equipment can be used to examine a wide variety of products, materials and substances - all to protect consumers, patients and the environment.

The latest analytical equipment from HPLC/UHPLC, SFC and GC as well as mass spectrometry, MALDI, spectroscopy (UV, IR, FTIR, ICP) and materials testing technology are available in the 1,500 sqm "Shimadzu Laboratory World", ensuring the best analytical results.

What you want counts! Girls'Day and Boys'Day 2022
More than 8,000 companies and institutions are offering opportunities for the upcoming Girls'Day and Boys'Day on 28 April This gives girls and boys an insight into a wide range of occupational fields that pupils would otherwise rarely consider for themselves. As things stand, there are about 90,000 places available for boys and girls.
